Rouba El Helou

Rouba El Helou is a political communication and gender lecturer in the Department of Government and International Relations at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at Notre Dame University (NDU). El-Helou is the coordinator of the Gender, Communications and Global Mobility (GCGM) studies unit at NDU. She has worked as a media practitioner and as a communication expert. She developed and designed several training manuals in addition to publications tackling digital freedoms, violent extremism, the network society, feminist studies as well as masculinity, in addition to articles around communication, journalism and media coverage of issues related to gender-based violence, investigative journalism and data journalism. She recently worked on research related to digital safety and security, political feminism and digital economy, as well as on a study (forthcoming soon) on mainstreaming gender equality in the oil and natural gas sector in Lebanon. She is currently writing her PhD on Arab-Arab Stereotyping and Othering.
