Diarmuid Jeffreys
is an award-winning journalist and television producer with 30 years industry experience working for broadcasters (BBC, Channel 4, PBS and others) and as an independent. He is with Al Jazeera English since early 2009 – and now based in Doha. In addition to AJE’s flagship weekly current affairs and investigative strand, People & Power, he is also responsible for commissioning a range of other stand-alone investigative output on the channel. This has included subjects as diverse as barrel bombs in Aleppo, torture in Brazil, organized crime in Nigeria, the true story behind the Lockerbie bombing and - most recently - The Day Israel Attacked America, about a deadly attack by the Israeli air force on a US Navy vessel in 1967. Additionally, Jeffreys commissions occasional short series, such the award-winning Africa Investigates, in which African journalists target corruption and human rights abuses across their continent. He is also the author of three best-selling non-fiction books.
