Rana Sabagh
Founder and executive director of ARIJ since 2005, Rana Sabbagh has dedicated her three- decade career as a journalist, columnist and media trainer to supporting free speech, independent media and human rights. ARIJ as she has guided it has become a media support organization that spreads the culture of “accountability journalism” among professors,students, and professionals in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Bahrain and Tunisia. Sabbagh is the former chief editor of The Jordan Times, the first Arab woman to run a daily political newspaper in the Levant. Earlier, she was a correspondent for Reuters International News Agency and for The Times of London. Sabbagh is the representative for the Middle East and North Africa on the first elected board of directors of the Global Investigative Journalism Network, a regular columnist for Al-Hayat and al-Ghad, a newspaper she founded, and a media consultant/trainer for Thomson Reuters Foundation.
